Okay, so I've been a loyal Compass Bank for many years now (5 or more) and have recently found a new bank after hearing many rave reviews from my chicca.

Compass has been slowly disappointing me more and more each year-each month and recently-by the day!

Reasons I choose Compass years ago:

Locations-they're everywhere-like a rash.

Online checking-I must be able to bank/pay bills/check my account online.

At the time-FREE checking account-I shudder to think I must PAY someplace to hold MY money for me. My good ole fashioned piggy bank didn't ask for a percentage! And he knew he was going to be broken in the end! ;-)

If you signed up, they give you a towel. Hey, everyone can use another towel! I have kids-they would love another towel to throw on the floor and walk on!

Reasons I began looking around for ANOTHER bank:

Rude tellers at Compass-almost to the point of being Snobbish! Who do you think you are, teller? I'm paying your paycheck by banking here! A little courtesy, please.

Crazy fees! They started drafting money for my "free" account and said that I signed their little (huge) agreement and that basically they could change fees, rules and whatever else they want to change.

Again, the fees! If I were to go over on a charge of a mere $0.25, they would deduct $39.00 for the $0.25 that I lacked, stating "Non Sufficient Funds Fee" and then ANOTHER $49.00 for an "Account Overdrawn Fee" and then to make the fact that I didn't have a stinking quarter at that time they charge you a $7.00 fee a day until you pay the quarter AND the new debt. Totalling $95.25 for being short a mere quarter! Come on, STUPID bank! If I screw up and go over a quarter-it's because it's NOT in there! So you overdraw my account a hundred bucks?!?! How is THAT good customer service? How is that caring for your customer? It's NOT. It's just sucking the poor American worker dry! (I'm burned up!)

The "We don't really need your business because we are GOD." attitude-they ARE everywhere, they do NOT really need your business and they end up sucking more money from your account than you want to admit.

The HOLDING my deposits until 24 hours or LONGER but deducting my withdrawals immediately! It's MY money-if I put it in at 8am, I should be able to use it at 8:20am!!!! And if you're going to hold MY money-fine-you better hold my withdrawals of MY money until you credit my deposit! That's just ludicrous that I put up with that for so long! I really didn't think I had a choice!

Reasons for choosing People's Bank:

My friend banks there and has NEVER had ANY of the problems I complained about with Compass.

If you go over on a charge of a quarter, they do not charge a NSF fee. Why, they'll excuse you go over up to $500 bucks and then only charge a $15.00 fee and let you pay it back at $40.oo a month.

Super NICE tellers! They want your business and so happy that you'd chose them over a large conglomeration! They even remembered my name after I only went in ONCE to set up my account! And I have a difficult name to remember!

No credit checks, no blood type sample, no promising your first born to their sacrifice to their Bank God. I signed a paper, chose the type of banking I want and in FIVE minutes I had an account and starter checks. All I needed was a form of ID-NOT ten different ones.

Ease of banking with People's-they treat you like they know it IS YOUR money in their bank! Not like you're borrowing THEIR money and so you must bow down to their demands.

I went in with a deposit, cash and a check. I handed the money, eyes down, cowarding, knowing that she would suck the money from my hands and tell me that the cash will post at midnight the next morning and that the check would be held until at least 24 hours and then I would have access to that check the next day after the 24 hour hold. (Large checks of $500 or more are held at least SEVEN days.) I was scared and I expected to not be able to use MY money as I was so accustomed to doing with Compass. But what was this? She smiled at...........me? She looked me in the eye and said, "Thank you, Mrs. Oakman!" Who, me? Really? You're not pissed that I came into your bank and made you stop talking on the phone and actually work a little? Whoa!? And I quietly peeped, "You're welcome? And so, I will be able to use my debit card sometime tomorrow (Tuesday) or Wednesday and access these funds, right?" She looked at me like I was crazy! *Thinking, "Oh crap! They hold your deposits even LONGER than Compass!"* She smiled and said, "It's IN!" What do you mean? "You can use your money NOW if you want." Whoa?!?! Really? I LOVE this bank!

If you sign up and refer a friend, they give YOU $25.00 in your account within the same week AND your friend! How cool is that! Who wants a towel? Give me money, money, money, honey!

Long story short: Comp ASS sucks major ASS (sorry, they do!). Like in a bad relationship, the person beats you, takes your dignity, does NOT respect you and they take all your money. Compass did that to me (and at least 9 other friends of ours).

A good relationship will treat you with respect, smile at you, and instead of taking your money-give you a little back! hehehe

If you have a People's Bank near you-go sign up! No credit checks and they're instant and if you give them my name-you'll get $25 bucks within the week! My name is Kalai Oakman in case ya'all don't know who I am. (How could you not?) ;-)
